Dear Friends,

With great thanks and anticipation, we invite you to join us for the 44th Anniversary Dinner of the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 6:30pm.

At what is planned to be a uniquely entertaining and distinctive event, we will be privileged to honor two outstanding and extremely creative YIJE couples who stand out in their unique contributions to our community and to the greater Jewish world.

Fran and Yeeshai Gross have lived in Jamaica Estates together since their marriage in 2005. Fran, a published author and entrepreneur who runs her own award-winning branding and marketing agency, has played an active role at YIJE from the time she moved in with her late husband David A”H in 1998. In addition to work on the Purim Committee, 5K Run and Chanukah Dinner, Fran has applied her expertise and access to many printing projects including Rosh Hashana cards, YIJE family album, Dinner Journal, Yizkor Books and the Kol Ha Narim Talit among others. Yeeshai, a Tony-Award winning and Emmy nominated film & theatre director/producer having produced over a dozen Broadway shows, is a past Vice President of YIJE and has been behind the planning and execution of most major YIJE events over the last ten years, including shul dinners, rabbinic transition events, Yom Hashoa and others. Yeeshai has also produced numerous memorable films for YIJE and was responsible for the coordination of outdoor High Holiday minyanim during COVID. Outside of YIJE, The Grosses are proud to work with organizations including UJA, Amudim, Yad Vashem, Met Council, Queens Chamber of Commerce, Ohel, Emunah, Selfhelp, Yeshiva University, Coinbase, National Jewish Health Hospitals, NY Public Radio, Entrepreneurs' Organization and the Charna Radbell Foundation. Fran and Yeeshai raised three dynamic children in Jamaica Estates, Avinoam married to Nicole, D'vora and Ariella. They also have a granddaughter, Ella.

Sandy and Edit Shmuely have lived and raised a wonderful family in Jamaica Estates since 1987. During their many years of active involvement at YIJE, Edit and Sandy have worked as a team to bring music, ruach and joy to our community. With Sandy on stage and Edit behind the scenes, we have come to rely on them to brighten our events and our days. Edit worked in the jewelry industry for many years and within the Jamaica Estates community has quietly been there for many in need and to support Sandy with his community performances, even serving as his producer during virtual concerts to lift our spirits during COVID. Sandy has composed and released ten albums and traveled the world performing for many Jewish communities and political leaders. The Shmuelys are involved with many synagogues in our neighborhood and organizations in the greater community including yeshiva day schools where Sandy has served as Music Director; Westchester Day School, North Shore Hebrew Academy HS, HALB, Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy and HANC. The Shmuelys are blessed with three amazing children. Danielle, married to Jeremy Markowitz, Mikey married to Chelsea, and Yoni. They are also very proud of their grandchildren Mia, Anaelle, Lev and Lily.

Please join us for an evening of Music, Food and Film as produced by, and in tribute to, our honorees at Temple Beth Shalom in Roslyn at 6:30pm on February 26th. Your participation will enhance the evening, add to the success of the dinner and pay tribute to these outstanding YIJE families.
