Rabbi   Dov Lerner  - Rabbinic Candidate

Shabbat Visit: March 1-2, 2018

For the past five years, Rabbi Dov Lerner has served as the Assistant Rabbi of Congregation K.I.N.S. in West Rogers Park, a suburb of Chicago, while concurrently pursuing a doctorate focused on the Malbim’s Exegetical Pedagogy at the University of Chicago—from where he has received an MA in the study of Religion. He has also served as the Orthodox Student Advisor at the Hillel of UChicago, and, prior to that, as the Rabbinic Intern at Lincoln Square Synagogue for two year-long terms.

Rabbi Lerner grew up in London, England and received his Rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. He received a BA from Yeshiva University in the study of English literature—also having participated in fellowships at the Tikvah Fund and the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought. Before moving to New York, he spent three years studying at Yeshivat Har Etzion. In England, he was elected as the Head boy of his high school and served as the captain of the soccer and cricket teams.

Mrs. Miriam Lerner, grew up in Passaic, NJ and earned both a BA and an MA from Yeshiva University in Jewish Education—while serving as a Legacy Heritage Foundation Scholar—and fulfilled her student teaching around the corner from YIJE, at the Yeshiva University High School for Girls. For the past six years she has taught High School Tanakh, also giving occasional guest lectures both at Congregation K.I.N.S. and in coordination with the Yeshiva University Torah Mitzion Kollel. This past year she completed the ‘Nishmat, OU, and RCA Kallah Teacher Certification Course,’ which she hopes to implement in the years to come.

Rabbi and Mrs. Lerner are proud parents of two daughters, Ariella and Orly.
